Connector

REST API → Snowflake

The same connector as the BigQuery build with one architectural difference: data is staged in object storage and loaded with COPY, which is how Snowflake wants to be fed.

What it costs

Two kinds of line. The connector is the technical connection to this source, charged once. The data models are the datasets you actually asked for, priced by type.

Data models customers ask for on this kind of source

Three Simple ones come with the Base Connector. These are what tends to get added.

Data modelTypical typeAPI resources it usually needs
EmployeesStandard/employees, /departments
AbsencesAdvanced/absences, /absence-types, /employees
ProductsStandard/products, /categories

Illustrative, not a quote: the type is assessed per customer from the API's own documentation. Note the last column — those resources are included in the data model price, not charged separately, and their raw data lands in your warehouse too.

What decides the type

  • How the resources in a dataset relate to each other
  • Whether the API can return only what changed
  • How much history has to be loaded
  • Which cloud your Snowflake account runs in

What you get

  • A scheduled job in your cloud, staging to object storage
  • Snowflake COPY into tables you own, with a documented schema
  • Incremental sync with checkpointing and idempotent replay
  • Historical backfill executed in full
  • Monitoring, alerting, runbook, infrastructure definitions and source code, in your accounts

What we deploy

Scheduler ──▶ Job ──▶ Object storage (stage) ──▶ Snowflake COPY

The staging step is not overhead — it is what makes the load idempotent and re-runnable. A failed load can be replayed from the stage without re-hitting the API, which matters when the API has a rate limit and the backfill took nine hours.

What we need from you

A Snowflake user with rights to the target schema, a storage integration or external stage, and credentials for the API. Nothing else.
